Now all this orb stuff is well an good but it is nothing without skills to back it up. The above list is verbatim from a site I use http://www.freewebs.com/aeguides/characterdesign.htm. But it does not go all out so here is my opinion and everyone has one.

Mages:
You will always want to E-pool your mage weapon skill before any rune skill. If you must or want to e-pool a rune skill do it at a ratio of 2:1 for every 2 points in mage weapon for every point in your rune skill. This will let you get better wands earlier in your lvls.

Warriors:
I know a lot of people say it and some people just will not listen BUT level only one skill at a time. Master a skill before trying others otherwise you will be the lvl 54 guy hunting kobolds....

Crafters:
This is a hard group to give advice on cause a true crafter will orb everything. Maybe not so much Con cause the only skill that is con based is first aid. This one really depends on if you want to focus on one skill at a time or dabble in all. If you are going jack of all trades alternate where you set orbs otherwise do it by what gives you best results for the skill.

Best list can be found here: http://ae.wolfbound.com/wiki/Skill_List
Too long to edit and post Razz
